Hawkchurch Film Nights by Chris Andrews

‘Belfast’ was a big hit in June – wonderful to see so many of you there for a terrific film and very enjoyable evening.  Thank you too for your kind comments about the improved presentation with the new projector – it really does make a big difference.

I know I said last time that we were taking a break for the summer before returning in September, but several of our audience have enquired whether we plan to show the film ‘The Duke’, which has been receiving excellent reviews and word-of-mouth buzz.  I made enquiries with Moviola as to whether this film would be carried over to their Autumn season, but they couldn’t guarantee it, so to avoid disappointment, we have decided to run an additional screening – our short summer break just became shorter!

In association with Devon Moviola, we proudly present ‘The Duke‘ (95 mins, Cert. 12A – infrequent strong language, moderate sex, discrimination) on Monday 8th August. Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren star in this delightful comic drama based on the real-life theft in 1961 of Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington from the National Gallery. Directed in his final film by Roger Michell (Notting HillLe Week-End).

Doors open at 6.30pm and the film beginsat7.00pm at Hawkchurch Village Hall, EX13 5XD.  All tickets £5 – reservations via csma95@gmail.com or leave me a message on 01297 678176 (socially-distanced seating available if booked in advance) or pay at the door. Home-made cake and other scrummy refreshments available.

Penny, Jacky, Paul and I hope to see you there.  Our next presentation will be on 5th September (honest) – film tba.
