Last month’s screenings of ‘1917’ fell victim to the announcement of the second lockdown. Although the lockdown was not due to start until three days afterwards, we felt that it was not advisable under the circumstances to proceed. We’re sorry to have disappointed those of you who had booked tickets and hope to reschedule this excellent film early in the New Year.
This month’s screenings inevitably depend on the lockdown ending as expected on 2nd December, but we hope very much to go ahead and bring you some much-needed cheer with ‘The Personal History of David Copperfield’ (cert. PG, 115 mins) on Monday 7th December. This is a wonderful comedic take on the Charles Dickens classic, written and directed by Armando Ianucci (The Thick of It, Death of Stalin, Alan Partridge), with an all-star cast including Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire, Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) in the titular role, Hugh Laurie, Ben Wishaw, Tilda Swinton, Peter Capaldi and Paul Whitehouse.
There will be two performances, at 4.45pm (doors 4.30pm) and 7.45pm (doors 7.30pm), and as before, tickets will be only be available in advance (details below), not on the door.
Allocated seating, social distancing and Covid-19 counter-measures will be in place – please follow signage and guidance on the night – contact me as below if you have questions or concerns. Please remember to bring your mask/face covering with you – if you are exempt, can you tell me when you book your tickets, so we’ll know in advance? Thanks.
Please send your request for tickets to me at csma95@gmail.com or text/WhatsApp/leave a message on 07753 603219 stating:
a) How many tickets you would like (max 6)
b) Your name and phone number and that of each member of your group (needed for Covid-19 Test and Trace purposes and kept for 21 days only)
c) The performance you’d like to attend (matinee or evening or no preference)
d) Where you’d like to sit (front, middle, back or no preference)
Please pay £5 in cash for each ticket on the door when you arrive (exact money appreciated, if you can) – we are not yet able to provide contactless/online payment.
The Friends of Hawkchurch Film Nights e-mail group receives regular updates on what’s happening – if you’re not on the mailing list and would like to be, let me know, as this is where you’ll find out first if the screening is affected by changes to Covid-19 regulations between now and screening time.
We hope to see you on 7th December. Dates for 2021(tbc) : 11th January, 8th February, 8th March.
Best wishes for Christmas and the New Year from Penny, Jacky, Paul and me
