We are delighted to tell you that last month’s screening of ‘Mrs Harris Goes to Paris’ drew our biggest audience for over three and a half years! Many thanks to all of you who attended and made it such a successful and enjoyable evening. Thanks also to Andy Cowling who printed the flyers included in last month’s parish magazine, which may well have contributed to boosting our audience figures.
Our 2023 Season continues on Monday 6th February with another recent British film success : ‘The Lost King’ (108 mins, Cert.12 – infrequent strong language, discrimination). This is the remarkable life-affirming true story of the amateur historian, Philippa Langley (wonderfully played by Sally Hawkins), who took on the academic establishment and also overcame the scepticism of friends and family in her unrelenting search for the remains of Richard III. From the team who made Philomena (director Stephen Frears, producer/co-writer Steve Coogan, who also co-stars).
Doors open 6.30pm, film starts 7.00pm at Hawkchurch Village Hall, EX13 5XD.
– Advance unreserved tickets will be available from Hawkchurch Community Shop at the reduced price of £5.50 (cash only);
– Advance reservations, including socially-distanced seating, are available also at £5.50 from csma95@gmail.com or leave a message on 01297 678176;
– Pay on the door for unreserved seating at £6.00.
Subtitles are provided for those who find them helpful (apologies that we were unable to show them last month). Home-made cake and other delicious refreshments will be available.
Penny, Jacky, Paul and I hope to see you at the village hall.
You will have seen from our flyer last month that our next presentation will be ‘See How They Run’ on Monday 20th March. This is later in the month than usual due to staff holidays! Apologies for any inconvenience.
