Thank you to all those who took part in our consultation earlier this summer – we had an excellent response, with many interesting comments and useful suggestions to help us take things forward for the new season.
It was pleasing to confirm from the consultation that our audience seems to be broadly happy with the format, so the changes we’re introducing are tweaking rather than reinventing the wheel. We will continue to show films on either the first or second Monday in the month, with doors opening at 7pm and the performance starting at 7.30pm. Ticket prices will remain at £5 in advance from Hawkchurch Community Shop or £6 on the door.
We are however extending the season by three months, so there will be screenings from September to June inclusive each year – hurrah! Secondly, we are streamlining the evening by discontinuing the short films. We would like to emphasise the social aspect of the Film Nights by encouraging people to come along from 7pm to meet fellow filmgoers and take advantage of our expanded range of refreshments, before taking your seats at 7.30pm to watch a trailer for next month’s film, followed closely by the main feature. Finally, we will endeavour to show as wide a range of films as are available to us from Moviola, our film suppliers, as requested by several respondents to the consultation.
With this in mind, we have a exciting mix of comedy, drama and music for the autumn season, so mark these dates in your diary :
Mon 9th Sept : The White Crow – Ralph Fiennes’ captivating biopic of Soviet ballet legend Rudolph Nureyev and his defection to the West
Mon 7th Oct : Rocketman – superb musical fantasy based on the outrageous life of Elton John
Mon 4th Nov : Late Night – sharp satire starring Emma Thompson as a chat show hostess
Mon 2nd Dec : Yesterday – Danny Boyle and Richard Curtis join forces for this feel-good romcom Looking forward to seeing you at the Village Hall this autumn.
