Hawkchurch Garden Club Annual Show CANCELLED

The committee has taken the sad decision to cancel this year’s Show.  It is a great disappointment to cancel for a second year, but with increasing Covid cases in the area we felt that we could not take the risk of holding an indoor event with a large number of people.  Some larger horticultural societies in the region are not allowing public viewing of the exhibits.  Our show being very much a social occasion, it is difficult to gauge how many people might be reluctant this year to participate.  

We will keep the same schedule for 2022 when, with some optimism, we may be able to hold our 50th Show. 

We were very fortunate to hold the Open Gardens nearly 3 weeks ago and are most grateful to those who opened their garden gates.  The weather was fine for the Saturday, a bit wet for the Sunday but all the feedback was very positive and everyone who took part enjoyed the visits.  We raised nearly £800, and decided, after deduction of expenses, and because the club funds are healthy, to donate £700 to ARC.  

Looking ahead, we hope to resume our club meetings on 14th October in the afternoon.  We will, of course, be in touch with you before then.

In the meantime, we hope that you continue to enjoy your gardens.  Any spare produce you may have would be gratefully received by the community shop.
