June Film Night

Latest Film

We’re scratching our heads after last month’s screening of ‘West Side Story’ : a terrific film which our audience loved, a brand new projector which really showed off the vibrant cinematography, praise for our refreshments – but only 14 tickets sold, which meant a considerable loss on the night (we need double those numbers to break even).  Huge thanks to all of you who attended for contributing to a nonetheless very convivial evening.

Let’s hope we fare better this month – our last presentation before a short summer break. On Monday 13th June ( a week later than usual due to the Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend), in association with Devon Moviola, we proudly present ‘Belfast’ (94 mins, Cert. 12 – moderate threat, discrimination, infrequent strong language).

Kenneth Branagh finally won a well-deserved Oscar for Best Original Screenplay with this warm-hearted love letter to the city where he grew up in the late 60s, at the start of the Troubles.  A remarkable debut from Jude Hill is supported wonderfully by Caitriona Balfe, Jamie Dornan, Judi Dench andCiaran Hinds as his parents /grandparents. The beautiful black-and-white cinematography should look good!

Doors 6.30pm for our new regular start time of 7.00pm at Hawkchurch Village Hall, EX13 5XD.  All tickets £5 – reservations via csma95@gmail.comor 01297 678176 (socially-distanced seating available if booked in advance) or pay at the door. Wine and home-made cake and other scrummy refreshments available.

Penny, Jacky, Paul and I hope to see you there.  Our next presentation will be on 5th September.
