March Film Night

Hawkchurch Film Nights by Chris Andrews

I’m delighted to report that we had our best turn-out in a year for last month’s presentation ‘The Great Escaper’.  The film went down very well with our audience, with a masterclass in understated acting by both Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson.  Huge thanks to all of you who came along – we sold out of refeshments!  Apologies to those of you who missed out.

This month’s feature promises to be equally rewarding.  On Monday 4th March, in association with, we proudly present ‘Past Lives’ (106 mins, cert.12 – occasional strong language). After years apart, a South Korean woman now living in New York reconnects online with the man who was once her closest childhood friend. Writer and director Celine Song’s beautiful, wistful drama of longing and human connection has two Oscar nominations, for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.  Don’t miss.

Doors open 6.30pm, film starts 7.00pm at Hawkchurch Village Hall, EX13 5XD. Ticket reservations £5.50 from or leave a message on 01297 678176 (socially-distanced seating available if reserved in advance); unreserved tickets also available for £5.50 from Hawkchurch Community Shop or £6.00 on the door (cash only). Home-made cake, teas, coffees and other yummy refreshments available.

Penny, Helen, Trevor and I look forward to seeing you at the village hall.

Two films for you next month!  Easter Monday 1st April : ‘Wonka’, 3pm family matinee;  8th April, 7pm – Napoleon.
