October Film Night

Latest Film

We had an excellent turn-out for last month’s presentation ‘Benediction’, despite the apocalyptic weather.  Many thanks to all of you who braved the elements to attend.

Our autumn season continues on Monday 3rd October, when in association with Devon Moviola, we proudly present ‘Elvis’ (153 mins, Cert. 12). The irrepressible Baz Luhrmann (‘Moulin Rouge’, ‘Romeo & Juliet’) directs this cracking biopic of the King of Rock’n’Roll, Elvis Presley, featuring extraordinary performances from Austin Butler as Elvis and Tom Hanks as his Svengali, Colonel Tom Parker. The BBC’s Mark Kermode gives it 5 stars – ‘cinematic dynamite’.  Please note the running time – feel free to bring a cushion!  It’ll fly by, though, promise.

Doors open 6.30pm, film starts 7.00pm at Hawkchurch Village Hall, EX13 5XD.  Ticket reservations £6 from csma95@gmail.com or leave a message on 01297 678176 (socially-distanced seating available if booked in advance) or pay at the door. We’ve reluctantly had to increase our ticket price to reflect rising costs, but it is still the same as the price of admission in 2016!  New improved projection – give us a try if you haven’t been for a while.  Home-made cake and other delicious refreshments available.

Penny, Jacky, Paul and I hope to see you at the village hall.
