Hawkchurch Film Nights by Chris Andrews
Many thanks to all of you who came along to see ‘The Duke’ last month – a hugely enjoyable film and a very convivial evening.
For the first film in our autumn season, in association with Devon Moviola, on Monday 5th September we proudly present ‘Benediction‘ (137 mins, Cert. 12 – images of war, injury detail, moderate sex references). Terence Davies‘ (Distant Voices, Still Lives: The Deep Blue Sea) beautiful and poignant portrait of the WW1 hero and poet Siegfried Sassoon and his life-long quest for personal salvation through his experiences with family, war, his writing and destructive relationships. Starring Jack Lowden (War & Peace, Fighting with My Family) and Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who, The Thick of It) as the younger and older Sassoon.
Doors open at 6.30pm and the film beginsat7.00pm at Hawkchurch Village Hall, EX13 5XD. All tickets £5 – reservations via csma95@gmail.com or leave me a message on 01297 678176 (socially-distanced seating available if booked in advance) or pay at the door. New improved projection – give us a try if you haven’t been for a while. Home-made cake and other scrummy refreshments available.
Penny, Jacky, Paul and I hope to see you there.
