Hawkchurch Gardening Club
About the club
Hawkchurch Gardening Club was formed in 1971 and is a well-supported society with some 50 members, mainly from Hawkchurch but also from areas a little way out of the village such as Fishpond Bottom, Blackpool Corner and Marshwood.
Meetings
It meets at 2.30pm on the second Thursday of the month from October to December and February to May in the village hall.
The meetings and social events are informal and friendly, and offer a good chance to meet other Hawkchurch and local residents. Invited speakers give illustrated talks on a wide range of topics relating to all aspects of gardening including looking at nature, wildlife and environmental themes. These talks aim to cater for inexperienced as well experienced gardeners.
Refreshments before the main meeting provide an opportunity for members to socialise and to look at any plants/seeds that have been brought in for exchange or by the speakers for sale.
Membership
New members and guest visitors at meetings are always welcome. Details of all our activities and contact numbers are posted in the parish magazine and in the village shop.
Membership currently costs £8.00 a year and non-members are welcome to attend for a £2 fee. Whether you are new to gardening or already have green fingers, there would be something of interest for you in the Gardening Club.
Summer Garden Party
Over the past ten years different members have kindly hosted a summer get-together where people have the opportunity to look around their garden and socialise with drinks and canapés.

Annual Show

Christmas Quiz Night
The December meeting is a Christmas social with a quiz on general knowledge with one section on gardening.Members bring a plate of food to share and their own drinks.
