Welcome to Hawkchurch Tennis Club

About Hawkchurch Tennis Club

Hawkchurch Tennis Club is well-established, having been formed in 1984. New members (adults and juniors) are always welcome. The latest version of the Club’s Constitution was approved at the Club’s Annual General Meeting in September 2019. Contact a member of the Club’s Committee for more information or pick up copies of the Club’s Information sheet and Membership Application Form at the court gate.

Outdoor tennis

The tennis court is situated at the top end of the playing field and next to the school. The court was installed in 1985, resurfaced in 1999, and refurbished in 2019. The all-weather surface enables the court to be used regularly throughout the whole year. The court is only open to members and all players are expected to obey the Court Rules. We have drastically reduced our fees for the year and encourage people to join so that they can book the court and enjoy a game of tennis. Due to coronavirus we have introduced an online booking system for the court. If you haven’t played before you can join as an Associate Member to try the game or just to get some exercise.

Indoor tennis (Short tennis)

Indoor, or ‘short’, tennis was introduced in 2012 when the necessary equipment for short tennis was purchased with the help of a small donation from Hawkchurch Fete Committee.

A few years later, table tennis was included, with the table kindly donated by Richard Peacock.

Short tennis and table tennis is not possible at the moment due to the coronavirus pandemic. We will keep you updated as and when things change.

Short tennis is a great way to start learning to play tennis, simply have some gentle fun or to help you get back into playing tennis after a long break.

Rackets, bats and balls are provided. New players are always welcome. A session costs just £2 and there is no commitment to come every week. If you would like to come along, check the message board to see if indoor tennis is running or contact Ann using the form below if you want more information.
